BBI Construction Management was founded in 1978 and has served North Central Florida for nearly five decades as a trusted construction management and design-build firm. From its earliest days, BBI has focused on building strong, long-lasting relationships and delivering quality projects on time and within budget.
For decades, the firm was led by Joe Burns, whose steady leadership shaped BBI’s culture, reputation, and commitment to integrity. Under Joe’s guidance, BBI earned the trust of clients, consultants, subcontractors, and community partners by consistently doing things the right way.
Throughout its history, BBI has completed a wide range of projects, including new construction, pre-engineered metal buildings, renovations, remodeling, historic preservation, re-roofing and building maintenance, utility infrastructure, equipment installation, greenhouses, pole barns, asbestos abatement, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, chilled water systems, and fire code corrections.
Since 1999, BBI has held the University of Florida Minor Contracts and currently holds an Alachua County Job Order Contract. The firm is also a local Small Business Enterprise registered with Alachua County.
BBI’s success has always been driven by its people. The firm’s team of highly qualified, proactive professionals works collaboratively to ensure excellence across every phase of a project: planning, budgeting, scheduling, performance, safety, quality, communication, and overall value. This team-first, relationship-driven approach remains central to how BBI operates today.
In January 2026, BBI entered its next chapter through a planned ownership transition designed to honor the firm’s legacy while positioning it for long-term success. The firm is now jointly owned by Chris Trowell, David Herbig, Jason Diven, and Lindsay Diven, a leadership team with deep institutional knowledge and complementary expertise across corporate operations, preconstruction, project operations, marketing, and business development.
This transition reflects BBI’s continued commitment to the values established over decades of leadership—stability, collaboration, and client service—while thoughtfully guiding the firm into the future.
